Food Merchants

There’s nothing quite like the aromas of delicious foods to greet faire-goers as they take in the sights and sounds of the faire.  Join us as a food merchant for Snake River Renaissance Faire.  Merchants for other items can sign up on the Merchants page.

We prefer food merchants to utilize tents or canopies that have a medieval/renaissance appearance.  We will consider some food trucks/trailers.  To maintain the ambiance of the Renaissance period, there are a few things we need from our food merchants.

  • Food merchants should dress in period-appropriate clothing and footwear.  Costumes don’t need to be elaborate or expensive.  Costume items can be found at thrift stores and places like Amazon.
  • Booth canopies/tents should look as period-appropriate as possible while maintaining requirements by the Health Department.  Food trucks and trailers should be decorated a bit to reflect the Renaissance period.
  • We’d love to see foods that tie into the Renaissance/medieval time period, as well as other faire foods.

Licensing Requirements

Booths that sell food or beverages will be considered food merchants.  Please check Eastern Idaho Public Health to see what licenses or permits you will need.

TCS foods (Time/Temperature Control for Safety), or foods that have to be held hot or cold for safety require a Temporary Food License.  You can fill out the Temporary Food Application for a temporary food booth.

Mobile food trucks and trailers will need a Mobile Food Establishment License.  You can find the Mobile Food Establishment Plan Application and the Mobile Food Establishment application on EIPH website.

Cottage food products are foods that are not sensitive to time and temperature controls, and only sold directly to an end consumer.  To make and sell these foods you will need to have completed the Cottage Food Risk Assessment Form.  Cottage foods include but are not limited to:

  • Some baked good
  • Fruit jams and jellies
  • Fruit pies
  • Breads
  • Cakes
  • Pastries
  • Cookies
  • Candies and confections
  • Dried Fruits
  • Dry herbs
  • Dry seasonings and mixtures
  • Cereals
  • Trail mixes and granola
  • Nuts
  • Vinegar
  • Popcorn and popcorn balls
  • Cotton Candy

Snake River Renaissance Faire will need to see documentation of all necessary licenses and permits before setup at the faire.

Merchant Fees

10X10 Booth      $100

10X20 Booth      $150

Early registration ends March 31st:  $20 discount

Contract and food merchant fees must be received by early registration deadline to receive the discount.  Spots will be assigned on a first come first served basis.  The sooner we receive your registration, the sooner we can set your spot.

Please fill out the food merchant application.  Once your application is approved, you will receive an email with the merchant contract, invoice for the merchant fee and other applicable information.

Merchant Terms – Please Read

Booth space includes 4 merchant badges. Additional badges may be purchased for $3 each. If you have small children that need to be with you, they will not need a merchant badge.

Merchants will need to provide their own tent/canopy, tables, chairs and other furnishings needed. Booths should be decorated in a manner to tie in with the renaissance period. Modern tables (not wood) should be covered with tablecloths. All merchants should dress in period-appropriate costumes.

Payment: After acceptance of your application a PayPal invoice will be sent to the e-mail address you supplied. PayPal accepts all major credit cards; you do not need to have an account to pay the invoice.

Event insurance is not mandatory but is highly encouraged. (We may require proof of insurance from certain types of merchants.)

Food merchants are required to abide by all rules and regulations from any government entities as well as having the proper documentation and licensing.

Merchants are responsible for all sales tax collections and remission to the Idaho State Tax Commission. Temporary Events sales tax forms will be distributed at check-in.

Security: We will have our own Faire security on site during the day. Faire security and staff will be camped on site during the night. We do not guarantee the prevention of loss of goods or revenue. Please secure your valuable products and remove all money and cash boxes at the close of business.

Use of merchant names and/or photographs: Vendors and their booth help consent to the use of their name, picture, image of any type, voice or video recording for purpose of promotional or commercial usage by the organizers.

Animals: No animals except service animals are allowed.

Refund Policy: Cancellations by May 31st receive a full refund. Cancellations by June 30th receive a 50% refund. No refunds after June 30th.
